Beans all over the floor…

And now my little secret project – since they’ve all landed I can spill the beans (finally!!). During the month of June I was busy designing and knitting up the Sock(topus)Club June kit socks. I wanted something summery, lacey, in a pretty & delicate green (like sunlight on fresh grass shoots). Veronica at Dream in Color yarns created an absolutely gorgeous colourway for me – which we had decided to call Morning Dew, but which, on receipt of the yarn, I decided had to be named Gelato al Pistacchio, because it really looks like pistachio! A beautiful lace pattern from the 19th century called to me – for some reason I completely was convinced the lace represented zucchini blossoms. So pretty. And since courgette flowers only bloom from June, I thought it would be totally perfect for the yarn and the sock.

So here is my little oeuvre:

The sock is a cuff down construction, using a scalloped vines pattern cuff, which then moves into the Fiori di Zucca pattern. The sock uses a Cat Bordhi arch expansion so doesn’t have the tradition heel flap or short row heel.

I knit/frogged/charted like a demon possessed. I love them to bits and really hope everyone has fun knitting them up.

And now for the next installation of my Alphabet series. Three today, to make up for the week’s silence!

Now I wish I were part of your sock club. Great yarn, and excellent sock pattern. Did I mention that pistachios are my favourite? :D

Heya, maybe it’s just on my end, but looks like all the sock pictures are missing… Flickr ate them. (“This photo currently unavailable”)
