Dear all - apologies again. This year just seems not to be going that well. The next fibre club will be delayed. Again. I know, I am so sorry. It is going out the first few days of November as I have had to extend my stay in the US until Wednesday to attend my cousin’s funeral. I am back on Thursday and will post out the parcels on Tuesday next week.
I’m loving the 3 ply that Lazulus spun up from the Merino. Just gorgeous.
Time seems to be flying by, and the next parcel is due again soon. Please email me any address changes. The next one will be posted the last week of October.
I’m hoping that we’ve got a safe window for the parcels - the only mail centre striking today in London is East London, and I know our parcels go to the Battersea depot. We’ve got a clear window until the 29th and 30th when London strikes again. For other UK delivery addresses, as far as I can tell Edinburgh addresses will have delays as they are striking today and Friday. Bristol is striking on Monday, and below are the delivery offices that are striking next week.

Apologies everyone - we are dealing with more royal mail strikes this week. Our collection hub and mail centre are out Tues/Wed this week.
I decided to hold back your parcels rather than have them join a backlog when the service resumes (from what I understand, after a strike the backlog is not dealt with first, regular service resumes for postings made during service hours, while the backlog is dealt with bit by bit).
From the CWU site, it looks like both collection hub and mail centre in are back in service on Thursday so the parcels will go out then and join normal service. I’ll post again Thursday afternoon with a status report. Huge apologies for this. Thank you for bearing with me (and Royal Mail)!
I have the fibre! It’s now being written up by our Fibretect (who incidentally has just passed her pilates exams - round of applause please!).
We will have everything ready to be post out on the Tuesday the 22 September - I am hoping for the 21st but that will depend on whether the printer can rush it through and post it to us on Friday. I have a new printer and he is good, so this is possible. But to be safe, I’m keeping with the Tuesday just in case. This will include your fibre, and a double digest Issue 3 and 4.
As for the fibre - how about a guessing game? Can you guess the fibre and/or the colour(s)?
Just wanted to let you know, and to reassure you, not to be alarmed by the changes happening at Socktopus. Socktopus as you know it is closing so that I can join forces with Stash Yarns in Putney. SOFA will continue unaffected, apart from the postal return address changing. My contact details remain the same, and your last three parcels will go out as planned.
Speaking of which:
1) Please can you let me have any address changes?
2) The parcel will be sent out around the 15 of September. I will confirm shortly!
Timing for this parcel has been slightly complicated as we have a guest Fibretect. Unfortunately the first fibre parcel for the guest Fibretect to review went awol. The second one arrived but only a few days ago so our guest Fibretect has valiantly agreed to review the fibre despite the fact that he is travelling at the moment.
For this parcel only, I will be sending the fibre out on its own. The 3rd issue of the Digest will be made available online (on a page to this blog) so that you will be able to access it. The fibre will arrive with me by the end of the week and will be parceled up over the weekend and posted out on Monday the 20th.
ETA: The fibre is landing with me on Tuesday the 21th July, and will also be posted out to you on the same day.
I am so sorry for the delay. A close friend has been ill and recently passed away. I’ve fallen off my horse, so to speak and things got away from me. I’m back in the saddle again, and getting things sorted for your fibre parcel which I hope to be able to send out in a week or so. I’ll update shortly on status. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Please also send any changes in address to me at Alice @ socktopus . co . uk with SOFA ADDRESS CHANGE in the subject heading.
